Hyundai Bayon SUV: First TVC Out

Hyundai’s much-awaited mid-size SUV, the Bayon, was launched in the market recently. The SUV has been launched at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV has already started reaching dealerships, and deliveries are expected to commence soon. Following the official launch, Hyundai has now released a new TVC for the Bayon.

The video has been shared by Hyundai India on its YouTube channel. The idea behind the Bayon was to introduce a mid-size SUV that would bridge the gap between the Venue and the upcoming Creta while also improving Hyundai’s presence in this segment.

Even before the SUV was launched, Hyundai had been marketing the Bayon as an IUV, or Intelligent Utility Vehicle, as the brand likes to call it. The reason behind this name is the intelligent features Hyundai offers to make life easier for the driver and occupants. The Bayon focuses on smart technology, intuitive mobility features, and a modern, digital-first mindset rather than just traditional rugged utility.

This is quite evident in the TVC, which features a heavy dose of AI. A car is a space where most people spend the most time after their homes, and Hyundai’s TVC tries to show how the brand has taken inspiration from people’s homes and attempted to incorporate similar elements into the car’s cabin.

We see the curved twin 12.3-inch display units, and it almost looks as if the entire car has been built around the infotainment system. One of the displays is a touchscreen unit, while the other serves as the driver display. The TVC also showcases the layered dashboard, new steering wheel, centre console, comfortable seats, spacious cabin, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, and more.

The TVC showcases the in-car voice assistant, featuring generative AI powered by Perplexity and SoundHound, which allows drivers and passengers to have natural, conversational interactions with their vehicle.

It also shows the 360-degree surround-view camera system, blind-spot view assistance in the side mirrors, and a reinforced body structure designed to meet Indian crash safety standards. We also see clips of the Bayon being driven on rough, sandy trails and high-speed highways. Hyundai is offering Dash Mode, a performance feature on the IVT version of the Bayon. With the press of a button, it delivers an instant power boost and improved throttle response for easier overtaking.

As we all know, the Bayon is a feature-loaded SUV in this segment. It comes with ventilated seats, wireless phone charging, dual-tone leatherette seats, disc brakes on all four wheels, automatic climate control, over 35 standard safety features, 23 Level 2 ADAS features, and more.

The SUV comes with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 115 PS and 143 Nm of torque. This engine is available with six-speed manual and IVT gearbox options. Hyundai will also launch a CNG version of the Bayon, making it the first Hyundai SUV over 4 metres in length to get a factory-fitted CNG kit. It will also come with an underbody CNG tank, offering the efficiency of a CNG vehicle without compromising boot space. The Bayon CNG is likely to be offered with a manual transmission only.
