Hyundai is all set to launch its all-new compact SUV, Bayon, in the market. Hyundai has been releasing official teaser videos of the upcoming Hyundai Bayon, and we have also seen multiple test mule images of the SUV on our roads. The Hyundai Bayon is expected to be launched in October, and from the details that have surfaced online, here is what to expect from the upcoming Hyundai Bayon SUV.
The Hyundai Bayon is a compact SUV that would sit right between the Venue and Creta. It is going to bridge the gap between the Venue and the upcoming next-gen Creta SUV. Coming to the styling, Hyundai will be going for a boxy-looking exterior. Hyundai also released an official sketch of the Bayon, from which we know that the brand is going for the Art of Steel design philosophy, which embraces the artistry of shaping steel into forms that convey strength, movement, and character.
From the teaser videos that have surfaced online, we know that the front fascia of the Bayon is going to get a unique H-Edge lighting signature. This is an LED DRL and also doubles up as turn indicators. It doesn’t look like the SUV would come with a connecting LED bar at the front. There will be a split headlamp setup with all-LED units in it.
The SUV will be offered with dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels. These come with a geometric design that has not been seen on any other Hyundai SUV so far. It also gets large windows, thick cladding around the wheel arches, LED tail lamps that would carry the same H-Edge light design, connected LED lights are missing at the rear too, and SUV will get a split tail lamp design positioned closer to the bumper.
On the inside, the Bayon will come with an intelligently crafted cabin designed around contemporary lifestyles. Hyundai is expected to offer a layered dashboard design with curved dual displays. It is likely to come with a three-spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters, an all-new centre console, soft-touch material or textured plastic on the door pads, a wireless phone charger, vertical AC vents, and so on.
Although the Bayon is positioned below the Creta, it would be offered with several premium features like automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, seat ventilation, Level 2 ADAS, and so on. It is likely to be offered with a grey and white dual-tone theme for an airy feel.
The Bayon SUV was earlier expected to be offered with a brand-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that is hybrid-ready. However, it looks like that isn’t happening. Hyundai won’t offer a diesel engine with the SUV either. The Hyundai Bayon will be offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine only. The engine on the Bayon is the same as the one seen on the Creta. It will be offered with a manual and an IVT gearbox option.
Apart from the petrol, Hyundai will also offer a CNG variant of the Bayon, and what is special about this setup is that the tank will be placed under the body. The Bayon will be the first SUV from Hyundai to get an underbody tank, and it would also be the first SUV over 4 metres to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit from Hyundai.
