Hyundai Creta EV Launch; Price starts from just 10.99 Lakhs due to ‘BaaS’ model
Hyundai has announced a new ‘Battery as a Service’ (BaaS) model for its popular Creta Electric, bringing the electric SUV’s starting price to just Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). In this scheme, the customer can use the battery of the vehicle separately on a rental basis, so there is no need to pay a huge amount at one time while buying the vehicle.
Rental batteries
According to the company, under this scheme, the customer will have to pay battery usage charges at the rate of Rs 3.9 per kilometer. That is, the cost of the vehicle and the cost of the battery have been separated. High initial cost is considered a major barrier when buying an electric vehicle in India; Due to this model of Hyundai, it will be greatly reduced.

Benefit of battery service
The regular Creta Electric is priced between Rs 18.03 lakh and Rs 24.70 lakh. Therefore, the initial cost has been reduced by around Rs 7 lakh due to the new scheme. However battery usage charges will be additional amount. The move makes Hyundai the seventh automaker to offer a battery-service model in India. Earlier, MG, Citroen, Kia, Maruti, Toyota and Tata have also launched similar schemes.
Car features
Hyundai has made two more changes to the Creta Electric. Side foot step is provided in all the variants which makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. Also, a 7.4 KW domestic AC wallbox charger has now been made available in some variants.

Battery Features
The Creta Electric comes with two battery options, 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. As per the company’s claim, their range is 420 km and 510 km respectively. Fast DC charging can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 39 minutes.
The car will now directly compete with Tata Sierra EV, Mahindra BE6, Maruti E-Vitara and MG ZS EV in the Indian mid-size electric SUV market.
