Hyundai Motor India's profit declined by 24%, cost pressure despite record revenue

Mumbai In the results of the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27 of Hyundai Motor India Limited, a decline in the company's profit has been recorded. During the period July to September 2026, the company's net profit declined by 23.9 percent on an annual basis to Rs 1,196 crore. In the same quarter of the last financial year, the company had registered a profit of Rs 1,572 crore. The company's profits have been impacted by rising costs of raw materials and other inputs.

However, there was a good increase in the company's income from operations during this period. According to the information given by the company to the stock market, income from operations increased by 18.5 percent to Rs 20,696 crore in the second quarter, whereas it was Rs 17,460 crore in the same period last year. For the first time in the company's history, revenue for a quarter crossed the Rs 20,000 crore mark.

Decline in EBITDA and margin

The impact of cost pressure on profits was also reflected in the company's operating performance. In the second quarter, the company's EBITDA declined by 18.7 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,974 crore. It was Rs 2,428 crore in the same period last year.

At the same time, the company's EBITDA margin also declined to 9.5 percent, which was 13.9 percent a year ago. This clearly shows that despite the increase in revenue, cost pressure is affecting the profitability of the company.

Company excited by record sales

The company's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Tarun Garg said that the second quarter was important for Hyundai Motor India. During this period, the company recorded record sales and for the first time since its inception, its quarterly revenue crossed Rs 20,000 crore.

He said that high raw material prices have affected the quarterly profit, but the company expects its business momentum to be stronger in the second half of the financial year.

Keep an eye on new models and electric vehicles

According to Tarun Garg, the launch of Bion is the beginning of a new product cycle for the company. The company is preparing to launch a special electric vehicle targeting the mass market in the fourth quarter of FY 2026-27.

He said that despite economic uncertainties and cost challenges, the company's focus will be on strengthening its position in key vehicle categories, achieving sustainable growth and improving profitability.

Increase in exports also

Hyundai Motor India said its export performance has improved even amid geopolitical challenges. Exports in the second quarter grew 4 percent year-on-year, registering a strong growth of 38 percent compared to the previous quarter.

The company will now be faced with the challenge of controlling rising costs, maintaining the pace of sales and strengthening its position in the market through new products.
