To capitalize on this increasing demand, Hyundai Motor India is working on a new masterplan. The company is preparing to launch a new sub-compact SUV smaller than its popular car 'Creta' and above 'Exeter'. According to the ongoing discussions in the auto industry, this new car of Hyundai can be based on the platform of Hyundai Bayon sold in the international market. At present it is being identified within the company by the codename 'BC4i'.
Will compete with these SUVs including Fronx
In recent times, this new car has been spotted several times during test runs on Indian roads. The spy pictures clearly indicate that the trial run of the car is in the final stages and Hyundai may launch it in the market very soon. As soon as it comes in the market, it will compete directly with cars like Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Apart from this, it will also emerge as a great option for those customers who are looking for something different and spotty design from Venue.
The new 1.2-litre TGDi engine will become a specialty
The biggest attraction of this new SUV is considered to be its engine setup. According to reports, Hyundai is developing a new 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine keeping in mind the Indian conditions and customer needs. This new 4-cylinder turbo engine will be more powerful than the company's existing 1.0-litre turbo engine and will perform better in terms of pickup. On the other hand, it will be able to deliver higher fuel efficiency (mileage) compared to the 1.5-litre turbo engine.
The company is trying to strike a perfect balance between the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo options so that customers get the right combo of both power and mileage. There is also a strong possibility that Hyundai may introduce this 1.2-liter turbo engine with mild or strong hybrid technology in the future, which will make the mileage of the car even better.
SUV will come in sporty design
Talking about design and look, the glimpse of the tested model shows that it is largely inspired by the combined sporty profile of Hyundai Bayon and Venue. The front of the car sports a modern split headlamp design, with slim and attractive LED DRLs at the top and the main headlamp unit at the bottom. The front grille has been given a sporty look and parking sensors are seen on the bumper with muscular black cladding.
Expected to get features like ADAS
The most important thing is that a radar module has also been seen on the front bumper of the testing model. Due to this, it is being speculated that Hyundai can also provide safety features like Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) in this new SUV. If this happens, it will set a new standard in its segment in terms of safety.
How much can the price be?
This SUV will fill the gap between the Exeter and Creta in Hyundai's lineup. It could be priced around the current Venue (about ₹8 lakh to ₹15.50 lakh ex-showroom). Hyundai will unveil its official name, features list and exact launch date in the coming time.
