Hyundai, as we know, is all set to launch its mid-size SUV, the Bayon, in the market. Hyundai revealed the official name and also released official sketches for the new SUV this week. The official launch of the Bayon is expected to happen in the coming weeks, and before the official launch, Hyundai has now released a teaser video where we get a glimpse of the upcoming Bayon SUV’s LED DRLs.
The video has been shared by Hyundai India on its official YouTube channel, and in this video, we get a glimpse of the dual-function LED DRLs that the SUV will be offered with. The teaser video shows the sleek dual-function LED DRLs, which are designed in two parts. One of them is a horizontal-looking dual-function unit that also acts as a turn indicator. The other one is a small, rhombus-shaped, vertically placed element with LED lights in it.
It is clear from the video that Hyundai will be launching the SUV in a red shade, and we also noticed that Hyundai is calling the Bayon an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, or IUV. This is probably because of all the intelligent or AI-related tech that must have gone into the vehicle. It also looks like the Hyundai Bayon will be a feature-loaded SUV, which is often appreciated by customers with modern urban lifestyles.
The Hyundai Bayon is based on the same platform as the international version, but the Indian-spec Bayon will come with an all-new design. The exterior design of the Bayon is inspired by Hyundai’s evolving Art of Steel design philosophy, which embraces the artistry of shaping steel into forms that convey strength, movement, and character. The front end of the SUV will come with a sculpted bonnet, pronounced fenders, and so on.
The Bayon will come with a split headlamp setup and a muscular yet premium-looking front bumper. The Bayon will come with dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lamps that may carry the same H-edge light design, connected LED lights, and a split tail lamp design closer to the bumper.
On the inside, the Bayon will come with an intelligently crafted cabin designed around contemporary lifestyles. Hyundai is expected to offer a layered dashboard design with curved dual displays. It is likely to come with a three-spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters, an all-new centre console, soft-touch material or textured plastic on the door pads, a wireless phone charger, vertical AC vents, and so on.
The SUV will be offered with other premium features like automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, seat ventilation, Level 2 ADAS, and so on.
The Hyundai Bayon will be offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine only. It won’t come with a diesel option. The engine on the Bayon is the same as the one seen on the Creta. It will be offered with a manual and an IVT gearbox option. Apart from the petrol, Hyundai will also offer a CNG variant of the Bayon, and what is special about this setup is that the tank will be placed under the body. The Bayon will be the first SUV from Hyundai to get an underbody tank, and it would also be the first SUV over 4 metres to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit from Hyundai.
