The tears of Hasirani Rath, immersed in the grief of losing her son, are not stopping. “I want my son’s killers to be punished, but I am a mother, so I don’t want them to be hanged. I want life imprisonment for them,” she said through tears. This statement of Hasirani is becoming increasingly viral on social media and people are getting emotional seeing a mother’s love and her pain. In fact, Hasirani believes that no one else’s mother should experience the pain she has endured.

Chandranath’s mother made serious allegations against the ruling party and mentioned the threat which was often discussed during the elections. He said, “They were saying that even the fathers of Delhi will not be able to save us after the 4th… and as soon as the 4th passed, they did the same.” According to Hasirani Rath, ever since Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram, her family was on target.

She further said that if her son had died in an accident, perhaps she would have been able to console herself. But the way the miscreants surrounded and tortured his son to death is a straight political conspiracy. According to Hasirani, the sound of BJP coming to power and its association with Suvendu Adhikari became the reason for her son’s death.

The story of Chandranath Rath’s murder was composed like a film script. It is being told that the attackers were doing recce of him for the last two days. The incident took place in Dohadiya area, where Chandranath was riding in his white Scorpio. The road was narrow, then suddenly a car stopped in front of them. The attackers first targeted the driver and then fired 4-5 bullets at Chandranath.

According to the local people, the attackers had come on a bike and they knew very well when and where Chandranath was going to pass. Before Chandranath could understand anything, the miscreants completed the work and fled from the spot. There is now mourning in the flat in Madhyamgram where he lived.

Chandranath had become Suvendu’s ‘shadow’ after leaving Air Force job.

Chandranath Rath was not just a PA, but lived like the shadow of Suvendu Adhikari. Chandranath, a resident of East Midnapore, was very bright in studies and had received education from Ramakrishna Mission. With a passion to serve the country, he joined the Indian Air Force (IAF). However, he later took VRS and joined Suvendu Adhikari.

Interestingly, even when Suvendu Adhikari was in Trinamool Congress, Chandranath was with him. In the year 2020, when Suvendu joined BJP, Chandranath also took up the saffron flag with him. When Suvendu became the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly in 2021, Chandranath was officially handling the job as his PA. His mother Hasirani has also been associated with politics and has been a member of the local Panchayat Committee. Today, a mountain of sorrow has fallen on this cheerful family and the whole of Midnapur is angry over the death of their dear one.
