'I am leaving the system, not the idea' Shehzad Poonawala's second letter creates stir in BJP

The resignation of BJP's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala is once again in the headlines. He has again sent a letter to the party's national president Nitin Nabin and appealed to accept his resignation.

Earlier on July 30, he had also offered to resign from the primary membership of the party and all posts, but instead of accepting it, the BJP leadership asked him to reconsider his decision.

Why did Poonawala stick to the decision?

Now Poonawala has made it clear that after much consideration he has not changed his decision. In his second letter, he said that in the last few days, there were incidents related to some people, about which he had already informed the party leadership in detail. According to him, these incidents forced him to stick to his old decision again.

Preparation to go to private sector

Poonawala has also cited economic and personal circumstances as the reason behind his resignation. He said that now he is preparing to go to the private sector. However, in his letter, he expressed gratitude towards senior BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, party president Nitin Nabin.

“I am leaving the system, not the person or the idea.”

Interestingly, despite his decision to leave the party, Poonawala has kept aside his respect for BJP's ideology and Prime Minister Modi. He said he was leaving “the system, not the person or the idea”. That is, his resignation is a decision to distance himself from the organization and active party role, and not an announcement of ending his connection with the ideas of Prime Minister Modi or BJP.

Expressed gratitude to BJP and PM Modi

Referring to his political journey, Poonawala also thanked BJP for the opportunities. He said that as a youth, Pasmanda Muslim and non-dynast, the platform he got in BJP would have been difficult to get in any other country or party. Along with this, he said that despite saying goodbye to the party, his support towards missions like Developed India and Make India Great Again will continue.

Will resignation be accepted this time?

Now the biggest question is whether BJP accepts his resignation this time or will there be an attempt to persuade him again? For the first time, the party had not accepted his resignation, but in the second letter, Poonawala has clearly demanded relief, terming his decision as final. This entire incident has definitely sparked a new discussion within the BJP and in the political circles of Delhi.
