‘I am Virgin’ – Ashutosh Sharma’s hilarious comment leaves Axar Patel and DC physio confused
Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is enjoying some time out of the game after a long international season that has passed. The 32-year-old was a key member of the side that won the T20 World Cup earlier this year and also played the IPL 2026 season for Delhi Capitals, which failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Recently, during an interview with Jatin Sapru for the Human of Bombay podcast, the Gujarati cricketer recalled a hilarious moment. The incident in question involved Ashutosh Sharmawho has carved a name for himself as a destructive batter towards the backend of the innings.
Axar revealed that during a game, Ashutosh was hit on his helmet when the batter tried to play the paddle scoop. The ball went to hit the helmet and the Delhi physio Craig Anthony de Weywarn. When the physio came out to check on the batter and ask about his well-being, the batter, out of the blue, said: “Yes, bro, I am a virgin.”
Jatin Sapru: “Tell us the funniest thing you’ve witnessed on the field in a pressure situation?” 😄
Axar Patel: “A bouncer hit Ashutosh Sharma on the helmet, and the physio came running to do a concussion check.”
Physio: “Everything alright?”
Ashutosh Sharma: “Yeah bro, I’m… pic.twitter.com/bbPToMmuSk

Speaking about the incident, Patel said, “It was a tense moment for him. I was already out of the ground when Ashutosh was hit on his helmet, and the physio went to check on him when he said I am a virgin’. Both the player and the medical staff then burst out laughing at what was spoken. He is very and can do and say anything.”
Disappointing campaign for DC once again
IPL 2020 finalists, the Capitals, finished in sixth place this season with 14 points from their 14 games. At one stage, they were well in the race to make it to the top four, but indifferent form saw them lose their momentum. The team ended the season with three successive wins, which included their final-day triumph over the Kolkata Knight Riders side.
KL Rahul was the best batter with 593 runs this season, with a best of 152 not out, which is the highest by any Indian batter. With the ball, it was the skipper who was the most successful, claiming 16 wickets after a slow start to the season. Kuldeep Yadav also picked 16 wickets while Mitchell Starc claimed 14 scalps despite coming in very late this season.
