Toilet of sleeper coach of New Delhi-Katra train breaks with explosion

Chandigarh. In Ludhiana, Punjab, on Saturday morning, the coupling connecting two coaches broke with a loud bang in the Katra special train standing at the railway station and with a loud bang the toilet broke into two parts. The explosion created panic at the railway station. However, everyone is safe. Railways has ordered an investigation into the incident.

This train named New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special (04081) had left for Vaishno Devi from New Delhi on Saturday morning itself. The train was running full due to summer holidays. Vaishno Devi special train reached Ludhiana railway station at 9 am. As soon as the train started moving to the next station, there was a loud explosion in the toilet of bogie S-2 of the train. As soon as the sound of the explosion was heard, there was panic among the passengers and chaos spread at the station.

As soon as the information was received, teams of Ludhiana Police, GRP and APF reached the spot. Ludhiana ADCP Sameer Verma said that no passenger was injured in the accident. Preliminary investigation has revealed that this clamp broke when the engine pulled the bogies forward while changing gears. There was a sudden crack in the washroom part of the S-2 coach of the train. It was not a blast or an explosion. No passengers were injured in the incident and all passengers are safe. Police have appealed to the people to avoid spreading any kind of rumour.

As soon as information about the incident was received, DRM Sanjeev Kumar of Firozpur Division of Railways also reached the spot. He said that when the train started moving, the N panel of S-2 bogie broke. The staff deployed in the train stopped the train. As a precaution, all the passengers were evacuated. After that it was checked. A team of experts has been called from Delhi which will investigate it.
