Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit's film Koyla, released in 1997, may be remembered today for its songs and powerful style, but the failure of this film had taken filmmaker Rakesh Roshan into very difficult times. Rakesh Roshan himself took over the responsibility of writing the story of the film, directing and producing it and he had high expectations from this project. However, the film did not perform as expected at the box office and after this Rakesh Roshan had to face financial problems. Many years later, Hrithik Roshan, remembering that period, said that his father had lost almost his entire hard-earned property and that time was very difficult for the family.
According to Hrithik Roshan, one morning he saw his father very upset. Rakesh Roshan had told him that whatever he had earned has been lost and now difficulties are coming from all sides. Hrithik told that this was the first time that he had seen tears in his father's eyes. This moment was very emotional for Hrithik, who saw his father as a strong and successful filmmaker. At that time perhaps no one would have thought that this period would later become the beginning of a new chapter for the Roshan family.
Hrithik Roshan also has special memories associated with coal. Before becoming an actor, he was working with his father as an assistant director in film production. During this time, he also got a chance to appear in front of the camera. His maternal grandfather and actor Om Prakash are also said to have played an important role in bringing Hrithik into acting. Rakesh Roshan later told that his father-in-law wanted Hrithik to be given a role in the film. Initially Rakesh Roshan had doubts about how Hrithik would work in front of the camera as he did not speak much. But when Hrithik gave his first shot on the set, Rakesh Roshan himself was surprised. He realized that his son had acting talent.
After this, Hrithik Roshan made his own place in the film world. In the year 2000, he made a great debut as a lead actor with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and within no time he became one of the most popular stars of Bollywood. The father and son duo also worked together in films like Aage Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish and Krrish 3 and these films achieved strong success at the box office. In this way, the same family which had once faced financial crisis and failure, later made a strong identity in Hindi cinema. Hrithik's story also shows that difficult times can sometimes lead to the greatest beginnings in life.
