‘I have to go to the Parliament march, please discharge me’, Sonam Wangchuk wrote a letter to the hospital

New Delhi: Sonam Wangchuk, an environmental activist and social reformer from Ladakh admitted in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, has written a letter to the hospital administration seeking permission to be temporarily discharged. He says that now his health is completely normal and he wants to join the proposed ‘Sansad Chalo’ march till Parliament.

Let us tell you, Sonam Wangchuk said in her handwritten letter to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital that he is feeling better and all the major medical parameters related to his health are normal. He requested that he be allowed to leave the hospital for some time, so that he could participate in the march towards Parliament. Along with this, he also said that if his demand is accepted, he will be grateful to the hospital administration for it.

In fact, after being on hunger strike for a long time, Wangchuk was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital for medical observation. There has been a continuous discussion for the last few days regarding his treatment and the circumstances of his stay in the hospital.

Wife Geetanjali knocked on the door of High Court

Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk and his wife Geetanjali J. Angmo has also moved the Delhi High Court seeking legal intervention in the matter. During this time, in his petition, he has challenged the system under which it was said that there should be no interference in the treatment going on in the hospital. The petitioner says that Wangchuk is confined to the hospital premises, while he has neither been formally arrested nor has any clear legal order been issued on his movement. Along with this, the family is also facing difficulties in taking important decisions related to his treatment.

Sonam Wangchuk’s condition stable

On the other hand, Safdarjung Hospital said in the health bulletin released on Monday morning that Sonam Wangchuk’s condition is currently stable. According to the hospital, his vital parameters are normal, but blood tests and other medical aspects require constant monitoring. The hospital clarified that a multidisciplinary team of expert doctors is constantly monitoring his health and constant medical monitoring is necessary to prevent any possible complications.

Now all eyes are on the hearing and possible decision of the Delhi High Court on this entire matter. The court’s decision will decide whether Wangchuk is allowed to leave the hospital temporarily or whether he will have to remain under medical supervision for the time being.
