Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has given a big statement regarding her political future. He has made it clear in no uncertain terms that he has no intention of retiring from politics at the moment. Mamata Banerjee adopted an aggressive stance and said that she will not rest until BJP is completely pushed into oblivion.
This sharp statement of the former Chief Minister has come at a time when after the defeat of TMC in the Bengal Assembly elections, there is a huge rebellion and deep political crisis in the inner corridors of the party.
Mamata Banerjee said during her official Facebook Live on Monday (24 August), 'Almost four months have passed since the change of power in Bengal and during this time, the real face of BJP has completely come before the public.' He alleged that the police are registering cases arbitrarily and pressure is being put on TMC workers not to become a part of the party. People are being arrested without any solid evidence and they are not even being allowed to hold rallies, for which they have to knock the doors of the court.
Serious questions raised again on SIR process
Reiterating the allegation of rigging in the elections, Mamata Banerjee also targeted the SIR process and warned of taking to the streets again to protest. He said that the SIR case is currently pending in the Supreme Court. If the Election Commission has courage then they should also include those names on which the decision has been taken. Mamata Banerjee alleged that under the guise of the SIR process, names of lakhs of legitimate voters have been illegally removed from the voter list. If needed, she will once again approach the apex court to get these names added back.
Attack on BJP government regarding 'Annapurna Yojana'
Raising the issue of delay in financial assistance to women under 'Annapurna Yojana', Mamata Banerjee said that Shubhendu government is reducing the number of beneficiaries by using ineligibility as an excuse. He said, 'We had launched Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana to make women economically empowered and self-reliant, but the BJP government is discriminating on the basis of religion and caste in giving money to Annapurna Bhandar.' The former Chief Minister alleged that BJP was going back on its promises made before the elections, in which it had talked about providing the benefits of Annapurna Yojana to every woman.
Reaction on Jadavpur University violence
Speaking on the recent clashes between ABVP and Left-backed students on the Jadavpur University campus, Mamata Banerjee directly accused the BJP of spoiling the atmosphere of the campus and instigating vandalism. She clarified that despite having ideological differences with some students, she fully respects them and their rights.
