Jaiswal and Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando came face to face on the first day of the second Test being played between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo. There was a lot of altercation between the two. However, it is a matter of relief that he has not been banned from playing further matches.
The second match of the two-Test series between India and Sri Lanka is currently being played in Colombo. On the first day of the match, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando clashed with each other. The ICC found the case guilty of breaking Article 2.12 of the Code of Conduct. It involves inappropriate physical contact with a player, player support staff, umpire, match referee or any other person. The ICC has announced that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando have been fined 25 percent of their match fees. Also, they were given one demerit point each. It is said that the punishment is less because both the players had not committed any mistake in the last 24 months.
Actually this incident happened in the 17th over of the first innings on the first day of the match. Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal. On this, Jaiswal moved towards Fernando and some altercation took place between them. Meanwhile, Fernando moved his head towards Jaiswal and then Jaiswal bent down. Due to this, the heads of both the players collided with each other. Then the umpire came and separated both of them. Meanwhile, it has also been said that both the players have accepted their mistakes. Therefore, there will be no need for further hearing.
Yashasvi Jaiswal could not play a big innings in the match. Jaiswal played a short inning of 45 runs on 53 balls. He had hit 9 fours during this period. Even in the first match of the series, Jaiswal was out cheaply. That means he has not been able to play big innings yet. He scored 32 runs in the first innings of the match and was out for zero without scoring any runs in the second innings.
