ICC Global Business Summit: Diplomats and Business Leaders Explore New India Trade and Investment Opportunities

New Delhi: The first day of the ICC Global Business Summit in New Delhi brought together diplomats, policymakers, industry representatives and business leaders to discuss new opportunities in international trade, investment and cross-border partnerships.

Organised by the Indian Chambers of Commerce (ICC), the summit is being held under the theme “Reinventing Global Business: Growth, Risk and Resilience.” The opening day featured a series of country-specific sessions focused on strengthening India’s commercial engagement with major international markets.

The programme included business sessions involving Romania, Switzerland, Africa, Italy and Canada, along with discussions on the economic potential of India’s eastern and northeastern regions.

India-Romania Business Ties in Focus

The India-Romania Business Session highlighted the scope for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Romanian Ambassador to India Sena Latif said bilateral relations were entering an important phase, with both sides looking to deepen trade and encourage greater involvement from the private sector.

According to Latif, India and Romania have identified opportunities to increase bilateral trade in the coming years. She also pointed to areas such as agrifood products, beverages and energy as sectors where businesses from both countries could explore greater cooperation.

Recent high-level engagements between India and Romania have also provided momentum to bilateral economic ties, with agreements signed during official interactions between the two countries.

The ambassador emphasised that stronger private-sector participation could help translate these diplomatic and government-level engagements into concrete business opportunities.

Moldova Looks at India for Investment Partnerships

Moldova also used the summit to highlight opportunities for Indian businesses looking to expand their presence in European markets.

Moldovan Ambassador to India Inga Ionesii said the event provided an important platform to present her country’s investment potential to Indian companies.

She identified industry and pharmaceuticals among the areas where India and Moldova could develop stronger business links.

Moldova’s geographical position could also offer opportunities for Indian companies seeking a base for manufacturing and exports to European markets. The country’s ongoing process of moving closer towards European Union integration was highlighted as another factor that could make it attractive for potential investors.

The discussions suggested that Indian companies could explore Moldova not only as an individual market but also as a possible regional production and export base.

Multiple Markets Under One Platform

Beyond Romania and Moldova, the first day of the ICC Global Business Summit featured discussions covering India’s economic relationships with Switzerland, African markets, Italy and Canada.

These sessions focused on identifying areas for greater trade, investment and private-sector collaboration while examining the changing dynamics of global business.

A dedicated discussion on India’s eastern and northeastern growth corridor also examined the region’s potential to contribute to the country’s wider economic expansion.

Focus on Resilient Global Partnerships

The discussions at the summit come at a time when businesses worldwide are navigating changing trade patterns, investment risks and shifting global supply chains.

The ICC Global Business Summit seeks to bring governments and the private sector together to identify new areas of cooperation and build more resilient international business relationships.

With participation from diplomats, policymakers and industry leaders, the summit provided a platform for countries to showcase investment opportunities while allowing Indian businesses to explore new markets.

The conversations around Romania and Moldova, in particular, highlighted the growing interest in creating stronger India-Europe commercial links through trade, manufacturing, investment and private-sector partnerships.
