Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the new men’s ODI player rankings on Wednesday, with several players from the Netherlands, Nepal, and Namibia making significant gains. Consistent performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 were particularly evident in the rankings. The Netherlands are currently in excellent form and are eyeing a place in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. In a recent match in Utrecht, the team strengthened their campaign by defeating Nepal by 57 runs. Meanwhile, the Indian team’s batsmen also continue to dominate the ODI rankings.
Scott Edwards and the bowlers got a big advantage
Captain Scott Edwards played a crucial innings of 57 runs in the victory against Nepal, which directly benefited him in the latest rankings for batsmen. He has moved up four places to 34th. Meanwhile, veteran spinner Roelof van der Merwe, who took two wickets in the match, has jumped 11 places and is now in joint 63rd. Fast bowler Logan van Beek has also moved up three places to 76th.
Players from Nepal and Namibia also improved their position.
Nepali players also improved their rankings. Spinner Lalit Rajbongshi moved up one spot to 45th, while Karan KC jumped seven places to 83rd. Batsman Asif Sheikh also advanced two places to 76th. Among bowlers, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan holds the top spot, while compatriot Azmatullah Omarzai maintains the top spot for all-rounders.
