Team India's next chief selector : Ajit Agarkar's departure from the post of Chief Selector of Team India is considered almost certain. If reports are to be believed, Agarkar is not interested in extending his tenure. This point was strengthened the most when after the 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BCCI, Board Vice President Rajeev Shukla said that the AGM has given the authority to the office-bearers to take decisions regarding the selectors. Meanwhile, the name of a former wicketkeeper is being said to be at the forefront of the race for the next Chief Selector.

In many media reports, Team India's former wicketkeeper batsman Parthiv Patel is being said to be in the race for the next Chief Selector. If there is no agreement between the current Chief Selector Agarkar and BCCI on extending his tenure, then Patel can replace him. But, now the question also arises whether Parthiv Patel will make him lose crores of rupees for the post of Chief Selector. Actually, Parthiv Patel is currently the assistant coach and batting coach of IPL team Gujarat Titans. He will have to leave this post after becoming Chief Selector.
Reportedly, Parthiv Patel can get Rs 7-9 crore annually from Gujarat Titans and commentary, whereas Ajit Agarkar used to get around Rs 3 crore as the Chief Selector. In such a situation, there will be a direct loss of Rs 4-6 crore. If BCCI increases their salaries to reduce this difference, will the salaries of the remaining 4 selectors also increase? This is a big question. At present, no official comment has come from BCCI regarding the next Chief Selector. At the same time, Pragyan Ojha is also said to be involved in this race.
