Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made a big election announcement regarding E20 petrol in Goa. He said that if AAP government is formed in Goa after the 2027 assembly elections, then the sale of E20 petrol will be stopped in the state within five days. Kejriwal made this announcement during his two-day visit to Goa on Tuesday.
Arvind Kejriwal said that if AAP government is formed in the state after March 10, 2027 and the sale of ethanol mixed petrol is not banned within five days, then he will leave politics. AAP currently has two MLAs in the 40-member Goa Assembly. The next assembly elections in the state are likely to be held in March 2027.

Kejriwal claimed engine damage due to E20
Kejriwal alleged that the use of E20 petrol is affecting the engine and fuel system of vehicles. He claims that many vehicle owners have complained about low mileage and problems in their vehicles. He said that after asking people to share their experiences, he received thousands of messages through WhatsApp and social media.
E20 petrol contains 20 percent ethanol and 80 percent petrol. It was implemented in a phased manner across the country from April 2026. Some owners of older vehicles have expressed concern about high ethanol content of petrol and have called for the continued use of low ethanol alternatives such as E10.

Kejriwal linked sugar prices to E20
Kejriwal also linked the E20 policy to rising sugar prices. He claimed that sugarcane equivalent to about 25 lakh tonnes of sugar was used in ethanol production, which affected the availability of sugar in the domestic market. However, the central government has rejected this claim. According to the government, there are many reasons behind the increase in the price of sugar including low production, festive demand, crop damage, reduction in global supply, hoarding and speculation.
