If you want to escape the heat, keep an onion in your pocket. Union Minister gives amazing solution to escape from scorching heat

digital desk- North and Central India is currently scorching due to the heat of the sun. Fire is raining from the sky from Rajasthan to Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Amidst this scorching heat and heat wave, an interesting statement of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has become a topic of discussion on social media. To avoid the scorching heat, Scindia has advised to rely on the traditional and Ayurvedic remedy of India i.e. ‘Onion’ instead of any expensive air conditioner. Addressing a public meeting in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, Scindia shared the secret of his health and energy. Referring to the harsh heat of the Chambal region, he said, “When people ask me how I manage to function in the 51 degree temperature in May-June, my answer is that it is the skin of Chambal. If you want to escape the heat, keep an onion in your pocket, nothing will happen to you.” Describing himself as an ‘old soul’, Scindia jokingly said that he believes in Ayurveda and traditions rather than modern comforts.

Mantra of distance and simplicity from AC

The surprising thing is that the Union Minister claimed that even in this scorching heat, he does not use AC in his car nor does he like to sit in AC rooms. He said, “I look a bit young, but my thinking is old. Nowadays everyone is carrying ‘boxes’ of AC, but I prefer to carry onions. With the progress of Ayurveda, we should not forget these ancient and effective remedies.”

What do experts say?

It has been believed for centuries in rural India that keeping raw onion in the pocket keeps the body temperature under control and prevents heat stroke. Although science does not fully prove it, onion is considered to be of ‘cool’ nature in Ayurveda. Scindia has advocated adopting this ancient knowledge in modern times.

Caution advised

The Meteorological Department has advised people not to step out of the house between 12 and 4 pm, drink more water and wear loose cotton clothes. The condition of summer is such that despite sporadic rain in some areas (like 6 mm in Gangapur City), the heat rising from the ground is not showing any signs of decreasing.
