IMD issues heavy rain, thunderstorm alert for 20+ states including Bihar; weather forecast from Delhi to UP:

India Weather Update: The pace of the south-west monsoon is continuously increasing in the country. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning in more than 20 states of the country for June 27. According to the Meteorological Department, the northern limit of the monsoon currently passes through Surat, Indore, Mandla, Daltonganj, and Motihari. Conditions are highly favourable for the advance of the Monsoon into the remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and some more areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand within the next 3 to 4 days.

Red alert of extremely heavy rain: fear of trouble in Bengal and Sikkim

The Meteorological Department has warned of torrential rain in some states on June 27. There is a strong possibility of extremely heavy rainfall, with isolated heavy-to-very-heavy falls over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 27. Winds will also blow here at 30-40 km/h. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya.

Heavy rain warnings in these states, including Bihar

According to the latest IMD bulletin, heavy rain is expected in many parts of the country on June 27.

Eastern and Northeastern India: Heavy rain is forecast at isolated places in Bihar and Odisha. Heavy rainfall is also possible in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Central and Western India: Heavy rain warnings have been issued at isolated places in Chhattisgarh, Konkan, and Goa. Widespread rainfall is also expected in Central Maharashtra.

Southern India: Heavy rain is likely in coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and isolated parts of Telangana.

Alert of storm, lightning and thunderstorm: from Delhi-NCR to Rajasthan

Along with rain, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for high-speed winds and lightning in many states. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in Jharkhand on June 27, with winds reaching 50-60 kmph. There is an alert of thunderstorm and lightning with strong winds of 40 to 50 km per hour at isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, West Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.

Similarly, there is a possibility of wind speeds of 30-40 km per hour and thunderstorms in East Rajasthan, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. Apart from this, strong surface winds are also expected in interior Karnataka.

Heat wave outbreak in UP

On the one hand, while monsoon clouds are raining in large parts of the country, the people of Uttar Pradesh are not going to get respite from the heat. There is a possibility of heat wave or severe heat wave conditions in different areas of Eastern UP on June 27. Heat waves are also being observed in some parts of western UP. The weather is likely to be extremely hot and humid in different parts of Odisha on June 27.
