Amidst the last phase of monsoon in the country, the Meteorological Department has once again issued a tension-raising alert. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of torrential rain in 25 states including UP, Bihar tomorrow i.e. on 16th September.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in many states for September 16. According to the forecast, the weather may remain bad in about 25 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan. In some areas, the speed of strong wind is expected to reach 80 to 85 kilometers per hour.
In view of the alert of the Meteorological Department, people traveling in hilly areas have been advised to take special precautions. Due to possible heavy rains, the risk of landslides may also increase in some hilly areas. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain with lightning and thunder in many parts of Eastern and North India.
In which 25 states is there alert of rain and storm?
According to IMD's forecast, on September 16, the impact of rain and strong winds may be seen in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds may occur in some areas. This weather activity is also likely to affect road traffic, local transport, power supply and agricultural activities. Farmers have been advised to keep an eye on local weather updates to protect crops.
Impact of Bay of Bengal and cyclonic circulation
Many weather systems are at work behind changes in weather. Due to the meteorological activities forming around the North-West Bay of Bengal, strong winds and rain conditions may occur over Odisha, West Bengal and adjoining areas. Apart from this, cyclonic circulation has been reported to be active in the upper atmosphere in and around Assam. The effect of upper air circulation is also being seen over the coastal areas of North Odisha and West Bengal. Due to these systems, rainfall may increase over many parts of eastern and north-eastern India.
How will the weather be in Delhi?
There is a possibility of moderate rain and thunderstorm in the capital Delhi on September 16. During this period the wind speed can be around 20 to 30 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 34 degrees and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius.
Warning in UP and Bihar also
Yellow alert of rain and storm has been issued in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Weather may remain bad in many areas including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Agra, Mathura, Bareilly, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Saharanpur and Lucknow. The maximum temperature in Lucknow is expected to be around 32 degrees and minimum 26 degrees Celsius.
In Bihar, there is a warning of rain and strong winds in many districts including Patna, Gaya, Buxar, Rohtas, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur, Munger and Khagaria. At some places the wind speed can reach 55 to 60 kilometers per hour.
Increased risk in hilly states
There is a need to take special caution regarding strong winds along with rain in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. There is a possibility of heavy rain in many districts of Uttarakhand, while areas of Himachal like Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu and Shimla may also have bad weather. There is a warning of rain and strong wind in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Poonch, Baramulla, Kishtwar, Anantnag, Reasi, Udhampur and Rajouri. The risk of landslides and road blockage may increase during heavy rains in hilly areas.
Rain and storm alert in Rajasthan also
There is a possibility of rain and strong winds in many districts of Rajasthan including Tonk, Ajmer, Alwar, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Barmer, Bharatpur, Kota, Dungarpur, Phalodi, Didwana, Jodhpur and Pali. Wind speed can reach 45 to 50 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in Jaipur is expected to be around 33 degrees and minimum 26 degrees Celsius.
