There was a decline in the number of tourists at Nepal's Virganj Bhansar office on Thursday. At the same time, Nepal Police, Army and Tourism Board have appealed to the people to remain alert.
Appeal to tourists not to come to Nepal for two days
Chitwan Police and Army of Nepal have issued an alert and appealed to the tourists not to travel to Nepal for the next two days.
Many bridges and roads have been damaged due to floods. Due to this, the Narayanghat-Mugling-Kathmandu road has been closed indefinitely. The administration has completely stopped the movement of vehicles on this route.
Nepal Tourism Board has advised people present in the affected areas to stay in touch with local administration, police, security agencies, travel agencies, guides and tour operators. An appeal has also been made not to rely on unverified information.
Road going to Pokhara and Muktinath also closed
The road from Narayanghat to Pokhara and Muktinath via Mugling has also been closed. The administration hopes that this route can be opened soon when the situation improves.
The closure of the route has affected the movement of a large number of Indian tourists, passengers and goods vehicles. The administration has appealed to people to postpone traveling on this route until the situation becomes normal.
Scene of devastation seen on the banks of Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers
After the water receded in the villages situated on the banks of Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, a scene of devastation has started emerging. When people who spent the night at high places returned to their homes on Thursday morning, they were surprised to see destruction at many places.
Many houses are filled with debris, while some houses have been completely damaged. Many people were seen trying to save their household items, while some families were seen grief stricken over the loss of their loved ones.
Tourist traffic reduced at Veerganj Bhansar
Many tourists going to Kathmandu, Narayanghat, Pokhara, Muktinath and Chitwan via Veerganj Bhansar returned back. However, some passengers going to Hethora and other areas continued their journey.
The number of people returning home on the occasion of Rakshabandhan has also been affected. After the devastation caused by floods in Nepal, the movement of tourists in the border area has reduced significantly. Many Indian and foreign tourists have cut short their trips due to security reasons.
