In this latest meeting of the opposition alliance ‘India’ block, serious questions have been raised on the functioning of the Election Commission and the electoral fairness of the country. Congress and its allies allege that constant pressure is being put on constitutional institutions, due to which the basic spirit of democracy is being affected. Keeping this in mind, the opposition leaders have prepared a plan to organize a large-scale movement across the country, so that this issue can be raised effectively among the general public. It has also been decided in the meeting that an aggressive approach will be adopted from Parliament to the streets to corner the government on these issues, and protests will be organized in different parts of the country in the coming days.
The five major demands put forward by Congress and India Bloc have created a stir in the political circles. The biggest and shocking demand of the opposition is the resignation of the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Chief Election Commissioner, regarding which sharp statements have started between the ruling party and the opposition. The opposition parties say that their protests will continue until satisfactory answers are received to the questions raised on the impartiality of the electoral process and constitutional institutions and an impartial investigation is not ensured. Political analysts believe that in the coming times this issue is going to completely affect the mainstream politics of the country and the upcoming election strategies.
