BJP MLA along with his supporters demolished the under construction structure in Delhi’s Pitampura, claiming it to be an illegal madrasa.
A controversy broke out over the demolition of a structure in Delhi’s Pitampura area on Friday. The matter is said to be of Shakur Basti assembly constituency. According to the information, BJP MLA and BJP temple cell president Karnail Singh reached the spot with his supporters and an under-construction structure was removed. Karnail Singh claimed that a madrassa was being built illegally in the area, which was demolished today. He said that this action was taken after the complaint of local people.
BJP MLA Karnail Singh has claimed that another temporary structure was built near the spot, which the locals were calling a mosque. The court had already given instructions to the people concerned to vacate the place. He said that the land in question belonged to Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and any kind of construction there was illegal. The action was taken after Karnail Singh claimed that the construction allegedly continued despite the court order.
He said, “Today I am here both warning and requesting them to vacate this land as soon as possible. I will not allow any kind of illegal madrassa or mosque to be built in my assembly.” The MLA claims that the land concerned belongs to Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and there are already court instructions regarding the construction being done there.
Following the dispute over alleged illegal construction, the police have increased vigilance to maintain law and order at the spot. In view of the situation, the police appealed to the people from both sides to maintain peace and avoid any kind of rumour. As a precautionary measure, police made efforts to keep both the groups separate and away from each other, to prevent any untoward incident.
