In Maharashtra, a teacher along with two children committed suicide by drowning his car in the river, all three died.
Mumbai, 17 July 2026: A school teacher in Maharashtra’s Nanded district had allegedly plunged his car into the Godavari river. The teacher and his two children drowned in this incident. Police suspect these to be cases of suicide.
According to the police, Sunil More (42), a teacher at Zilla Parishad School, Pota Budruk, Himayatnagar, had reached Amdura-Pune-Gaon road in a car with his daughter Sara (12) and son Sumit (8) at around 8 in the morning. There he crashed the car into the metal railing of the bridge over the Godavari river. The car broke the barrier and plunged straight into the river. His wife was at home at the time of the accident.
Local people immediately informed the police and SDRF. After about three hours of great effort, the SDRF team pulled the car out of the river. The dead bodies of the teacher and the two children were found in the car.
Police had said that before the incident, Sunil More had posted on his WhatsApp status alleging that his superiors were harassing him. He had also written that he would commit suicide along with his two children.
