Now the category of road in Samastipur will decide the tax of your house, know the new rates
Samastipur. A big news is coming for the residents of Samastipur Municipal Corporation area of Bihar. Now the property tax (holding tax) of houses in the city has been increased. The Municipal Corporation has decided to implement new tax rates after the approval of the Urban Development and Housing Department. According to this new rule, now homeowners will have to pay tax based on the width and grade of the road in front of their house.

City roads divided into three categories
To make this tax transparent, the administration has divided the city roads into three categories. Which includes Principal Main Road, Main Road and Other Roads. According to the new rates, the maximum for houses located on main roads has been fixed at ₹ 65 per square feet on the basis of commercial and industrial pucca buildings. Whereas the rates have been fixed at ₹ 43 per square feet for pucca corporate buildings and ₹ 22 per square feet for tin or other temporary category buildings.
According to this new rule, those who pay tax on time will get exemption and if there is delay, penalty will also be imposed. Under this special rule, landlords who deposit their holding tax by June 30 will get a rebate of 5 percent on the total amount. Apart from this, there will be no exemption or additional penalty for depositing tax between July and September. At the same time, landlords who pay tax after October 1 will also have to pay late fee i.e. penalty at the rate of 1.5% every month and from those who do not pay late fee, it will be recovered as per the rules.
