The Board of Control for India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for the Test and ODI series against Afghanistan on Tuesday (19). Team India will play one Test and three ODIs against Afghanistan in the month of June. Major changes have been made to teams before. 9 experienced players have been dropped from the Test and ODI squads. So, a total of four new faces have been selected in the team. This includes players like Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey and Prince Yadav. Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar have been selected for the Test and ODI squads. Prince Yadav is only included in the ODI squad. So, Manav Suthar has only been selected in the Test squad.

These legendary players got Dutch

Akash Deep has been ruled out of the squad for the Test match against Afghanistan due to injury, while veterans Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested. So, veterans like Harshit Rana, Rishabh Pant, Ayush Badoni Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj have been dropped from the squad for the ODI series. Harshit Rana did not get a place in the team due to injury. According to media reports, Mohammad Siraj and Rishabh Pant have been dropped from the team due to their performances. He has also been rested as the team management wants to try new options to replace Ravindra Jadeja. India played the last Test series against South Africa.

Gurnoor Brar

Punjab fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has been named in the squad for the Test and ODI series against Afghanistan for the first time. Gurnoor made his List A debut against Goa in December 2022. He made his IPL debut in 2023 with Punjab Kings. Later Gujarat Titans signed him for Rs 1.30 crore.

His impressive performance in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy with 69 wickets grabbed the attention of many.

Human Carpenter

Manav Suthar has been named in the squad for the Afghanistan Test series. Manav Suthar plays for Rajasthan in domestic cricket and Gujarat Titans in IPL. Suthar excelled in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season. He took 39 wickets throughout the season. After excelling in domestic cricket, he got an opportunity to showcase his skills on a bigger stage like IPL. Gujarat Titans bought him for IPL 2024 for Rs 20 lakh.
