IND vs NZ: Arshdeep Singh is the star of powerplay bowling, after T20 he also took wickets in ODI

Team India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has made his special mark in T20 cricket. From IPL to international cricket, in the T20 format, the left-arm star bowler has taken a flurry of wickets and has won many matches for his teams and also created records. But not only in T20 but also in ODI format, Arshdeep is showing his talent. His magic continues especially in the powerplay, where he took 2 wickets in the first match of the ODI series against New Zealand.

Arshdeep shines without senior

In the first match of the ODI series in Auckland, the Indian team came out to bowl first. Now a star bowler like Jasprit Bumrah is not playing in this series, while Mohammad Siraj was also rested for the first match. In such a situation, the responsibility was on Arshdeep Singh, who had the most experience in an inexperienced bowling attack, to provide initial successes and this Punjab bowler did not disappoint.

Arshdeep Singh gave India its first success in the fifth over of New Zealand’s innings. He trapped opener Will Young on a short pitch ball, who got out while trying to hit a pull shot. Arshdeep and India did not have to wait long for the second wicket either. In the 9th over, Arshdeep also trapped Henry Nicholls in the same trap and sent him back to the pavilion. In this way, within the first powerplay itself, Arshdeep put New Zealand in trouble by taking 2 wickets.

Strong bowling continues in powerplay

This is the 19th match of Arshdeep’s ODI career, in which he bowled in 18 innings. In these 18 innings, he has taken a total of 17 wickets in the powerplay i.e. within the first 10 overs. During this period, he has bowled 71 overs and taken 17 wickets with an excellent average of 20.17, while his economy rate is also 4.83 runs per over.

This is enough to tell that with the new ball, Arshdeep Singh is equally effective not only in T20 International but also in ODI cricket. Recently, during the T20 series against New Zealand, Arshdeep had equaled Tim Southee’s record of taking 65 wickets in the powerplay. Arshdeep did this in just 99 innings.
