New Delhi: The five-match T20 series between India and West Indies has now reached its final stage. After losing by 24 runs in the fourth match, the path became difficult for Team India and the series is tied at 2-2. The deciding fifth T20 between the two teams is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 17 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The team that wins will win the trophy. But before this important match, the weather has worried everyone.
looming threat of rain
According to the Meteorological Department report, there is a possibility of heavy rain at Chinnaswamy Stadium on the evening of 17 October. There may be heavy rain with thunder during the match. The probability of rain at 5 pm is said to be around 66 percent. At the time of toss this figure can reach 68 percent. The risk of rain will be highest i.e. around 70 percent between 8 to 9 pm. Given such high probability, the fear of delay in toss, reduction of overs or the entire match being washed out has increased. If rain interrupts the game then the result of the series may hang in the balance.
However, Chinnaswamy Stadium has a sub-air system, which is one of the best drainage systems in the world. The field becomes playable again within 15-20 minutes after the rain stops. Therefore, there is still hope of completing the match even if there is some rain.
Records of both teams in Bengaluru
This will be the first T20 match of both the teams on this ground. India has played 8 T20s here so far, out of which 4 won, 3 lost and one without result. West Indies played only one T20 here and it won. The decision of the series is now also in the hands of the weather. Cricket lovers are hoping that rain does not spoil the match and both the teams can play the full match for the trophy.
