The first T20 match between India and Afghanistan is to be held on September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. During this time, the 18th BRICS summit will also be organized in Delhi, in which heads of state of many nations will participate. In such a situation, clouds of crisis are now looming over the T20 match. Delhi Police has written a letter to Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) requesting to change the date of the match.
Police say that due to BRICS summit in Delhi on the same day, there will be a large number of VVIP movement, in such a situation it will be very difficult to handle the crowd and traffic during the match. It is noteworthy that BRICS summit is being held in New Delhi from 11 to 13 September. During this period, Delhi Police personnel will be deployed for the security of foreign heads of state and other VVIP guests visiting India. Along with this, routes will be diverted at many places so that the traffic system can be managed. September 13 is the last day of the summit and the T20 match between India and Afghanistan is also to be held on the same day.

Big challenge before police
According to Delhi Police, there will be movement of VVIP convoys throughout the day in many areas of Central Delhi. In such a situation, handling the vehicles of thousands of spectators coming for the match and managing traffic along with VVIP movement can become a big challenge for the police. Around 25 thousand to 35 thousand spectators are expected to arrive for this match to be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium. With such a large number of people reaching the stadium and coming out after the match is over, there can be a situation of huge traffic jam on the surrounding roads.
Same root can become a problem
The police have specifically mentioned the areas around Arun Jaitley Stadium and busy roads like Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Minto Road and Kamla Market. There will already be VVIP movement in these areas and there will also be movement of spectators during the match in these areas. Due to this, security and traffic related arrangements will remain challenging.

Will the schedule of the match change?
The schedule of the three-match T20 series between India and Afghanistan has already been decided. The first match is to be played on 13 September, the second on 15 September and the third on 17 September at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Police say that during a big international conference like BRICS, it is necessary to give priority to security arrangements. In such a situation, it will be difficult to provide additional resources to handle the crowd of a big international cricket match on the same day.
Now after the request of Delhi Police, DDCA and the concerned cricket authorities will have to take a decision on this. However, till the time of writing the news, no information has been revealed regarding postponement of the match or changing the ground of the match. Now everyone's eyes are on the next decision of DDCA and Cricket Board.
