India became a support for Afghans returning from Pakistan! Major humanitarian aid sent for rehabilitation

New Delhi: Amidst the humanitarian crisis related to Afghanistan, India has once again extended a helping hand. The Government of India has provided tents to the Ministry of Refugees and Rehabilitation (MoRR) to support the rehabilitation of families returning to Afghanistan. The objective of this initiative is to provide temporary shelter to the people returning to their country and help them in resettling.

India continues humanitarian assistance

While sharing the information on the social media platform ‘X’, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that India is continuously providing humanitarian help to the people of Afghanistan. In this sequence, tents for the families have been handed over to the Refugee and Rehabilitation Ministry of Afghanistan. These tents will be used for those who have returned from neighboring countries and are trying to resettle in their homes.

Afghans returning from Pakistan in large numbers

In recent times, Pakistan has intensified action against foreign citizens living illegally and Afghan refugees without valid documents. According to reports, Afghans who did not have valid visas were given time till July 10 to leave the country voluntarily. After the deadline, the administration further accelerated the return process.

Thousands of people returned in 24 hours

According to local media reports, more than 4,000 Afghan citizens were deported from Pakistan in just 24 hours last weekend. At the same time, figures from the transit centers built on the border show that now more than 10,000 Afghans are returning to their country every day. Due to this, the challenge of rehabilitation in Afghanistan is continuously increasing.

United Nations expressed concern

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has expressed concern about the return of Afghan refugees. The organization says that women, girls and other vulnerable groups are being forced to return to an environment where their rights and security may be affected.

UNHCR has appealed to Pakistan that the return of Afghan citizens should be carried out in a completely voluntary, safe and honorable manner. At such a time, the humanitarian assistance given by India is being considered an important step of relief for thousands of returning families.
