India defeated Zimbabwe by 90 runs, Iyer won his first series as captain.

India has won the three-match series by defeating Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20 International. Zimbabwe team was all out after scoring 129 runs in 17.5 overs. India had given Zimbabwe a target of 220 runs to win. Batting first, India had scored 219 runs.

 

From the Indian side, the bowlers did not allow the Zimbabwean batsmen to stay on the crease for long. Opener Abhishek Sharma took maximum 3 wickets while bowling. Apart from this, Prince Yadav and Yash Thakur took two wickets each. Ravi Bishnoi, Shivam Dubey and Tilak Verma took one wicket each.

Brian Bennett played an inning of 32 runs in 19 balls.

 

For Zimbabwe, opener Brian Bennett scored the highest innings of 32 runs in 19 balls. Apart from this, Ryan Burl scored 20 runs, Tadiwanashe Marumoni scored 24 runs and Brad Evans scored 19 runs. All the other batsmen were dismissed cheaply.

 

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma’s fifty

 

Whereas, for India, Ishan Kishan played aggressive half-centuries of 81 and Tilak Verma scored 60 not out. India defeated Zimbabwe by 90 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Iyer won the series as captain

 

The Indian team, which came to bat first, did not have a good start and lost the wickets of both its openers till the score of 29 runs. But, Kishan then rescued the team from the crisis by making an important partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket with captain Shreyas Iyer and then 94 runs with Tilak for the fourth wicket. Iyer made 25 punts.

 

With this victory, Indian T20 captain Shreyas Iyer won the series as captain for the first time after two consecutive series defeats in Ireland (0-2) and England (0-4).
