India goes 0-2 down against Korea in Davis Cup – Tezzbuzz

Seoul, Sept 19:

India suffered a difficult opening day in their Davis Cup tie against Korea, falling 0-2 behind after losing both singles matches on Friday.

D Suresh and Sumit Nagal were unable to convert their opportunities against the Korean players, with both Indian players going down in three sets. The Korean team adapted effectively to the slow and low conditions of the court in Seoul.

The results leave India needing victories in the remaining matches to keep their hopes alive in the tie. The doubles rubber and reverse singles will assume added importance as the Indian team attempts to fight back.

The Indian players had periods of strong play but struggled to maintain their momentum as the matches progressed. Korea’s ability to handle the court conditions gave the hosts an advantage on the opening day.
