'India has become the center of global solution', PM Modi enumerated achievements in BRICS Business Forum

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the BRICS Business Forum held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. During this, he mentioned the growing strength of BRICS and its increasing influence in the global economy. PM Modi said that this group, which started with only four countries in 2006, has now become a family of 21 countries including member and partner countries.

GDP of BRICS countries increased four and a half times

According to PM Modi, today BRICS countries represent about 50 percent of the world's population, about 40 percent of GDP and more than 25 percent of global trade. He said that in the last two decades, the economy of BRICS countries has grown at a faster pace than the world economy. While global GDP increased by about two and a half times during this period, the combined GDP of BRICS countries increased by almost four and a half times.

BRICS is becoming a big center of innovation

The Prime Minister said that BRICS is no longer just a platform for economic cooperation, but it is also becoming an important center for global innovation and creating new solutions. New experiments are taking place in many areas in the member countries, from grassroots level initiatives to cutting-edge technology. He said that the growing scope of BRICS and its possibilities are clearly visible. Along with this, he described the current business forum organized in India as the biggest BRICS business forum till date.

Also spoke on the theme of India's presidency

PM Modi also mentioned the theme of India's BRICS chairmanship “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Stability”. He said that India has given importance to these principles in its economic and trade policies over the years. Amidst global uncertainties, India has worked on making its supply chain more diverse and reliable in many sectors including energy and technology, the effect of which is also visible on the country's economy.

The Prime Minister said that amidst the current global circumstances, India is strengthening itself as a reliable center of development and stability. According to him, with the expansion of BRICS, the possibilities of trade, technology and economic cooperation between the member countries are also continuously increasing.
