India is firm on its tough stance against terrorism: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh
New Delhi, 18 July 2026: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India’s tough policy against terrorism is not just a statement, but the country is firm on this stance. Addressing the ‘Forces First Conclave’ in New Delhi today, Rajnath Singh said that India will not only attack terrorists on its borders, but if necessary, will also enter their hideouts and eliminate them.
He said that the world had seen this policy of India during ‘Operation Vermillion’ and it is an excellent example of technology-based warfare. Rajnath Singh had mentioned that many state-of-the-art defense systems including ‘Akash-Teer’, ‘Akash’ missile system and ‘Brahmos’ were used in this operation.
Rajnath Singh had said that in the last 12 years, the Narendra Modi government has given top priority to strengthening India’s defense system. He added that the government has also resolved to reduce dependence on imports to meet the country’s defense needs. He had mentioned that out of the budget allocated for the modernization of the armed forces, 75 percent of the amount has been earmarked for purchases from Indian industries. He said that the government will implement a new process of defense procurement this year, which will provide new momentum and strength to defense production in the country.
Rajnath Singh had said that the country’s defense production has reached an estimated record level of Rs 1.78 lakh crore, whereas in 2014 it was around Rs 40,000 crore. He had added that the government has set a target of crossing the Rs 2 lakh crore mark in defense production this year.
