New Delhi: A pilot lying on the floor soaked in blood pressed a button with all his might, and this single action saved the lives of 174 people on board the plane. Now, for this extraordinary bravery, the praise of Indian pilot Captain Smit Machhar has reached Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
On Thursday, while posting on Twitter, Prime Minister Modi addressed Captain Smit Mosquito in simple words. "hero" relaxed me. He wrote that the indomitable courage shown by the Captain in the face of the gravest danger and despite being badly injured, saved the lives of hundreds of people and averted a major tragedy. The PM further said that the whole of India is proud of Captain Mosquito, and also prayed for his speedy recovery.
Trump and Netanyahu also praised a lot
Not only India, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have also saluted the bravery of Captain Mosquito. In fact, despite the knife attack by the co-pilot, the captain showed wisdom by opening the cockpit door and called for help, due to which the alleged conspiracy to crash the plane was foiled. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said that the pilot's condition was very serious and still is, but the wisdom he showed was really amazing and in a way, he proved to be a true hero.
How did the whole incident happen?
According to Israeli officials, all the passengers and crew on board the plane reached Israel safely on Wednesday after the passengers worked together to foil the co-pilot's plot. In fact, the whole conflict started when the co-pilot suddenly attacked the captain with a knife, after which the plane descended to about 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds.
Netanyahu's spokesman told Reuters that even in such critical conditions, as Captain Mosquito lay on the floor covered in blood, he somehow pressed the button to open the cockpit door. This single attempt gave the passengers and crew the opportunity to control the co-pilot. After this, a pair of other pilots of Flydubai aboard the plane took command and landed the jet safely in Tabuk city of Saudi Arabia.
Treatment continues, condition stable
According to Indian officials present in Saudi Arabia, Captain Mosquito is being given necessary medical attention at a hospital in Tabuk, and officials are in constant touch with his family and the Saudi authorities to provide all necessary help. The Indian Embassy told X-Post that his condition is currently stable. According to media reports, Mumbai resident Captain Mosquito has also undergone surgery after the incident. According to his LinkedIn profile, before joining flydubai, he served with India's SpiceJet airline for more than 11 years.
The reason for the attack is still unresolved
However, the real reason why this violent confrontation took place between the pilots is not yet clear. Flydubai said in its statement that the root causes of the incident are currently unknown, and advised against any hasty conclusions. The airline has suspended all its flights to Israel until the investigation is completed. Describing this entire incident as a very serious security matter, Netanyahu said that Saudi authorities will now interrogate the co-pilot of this Flydubai flight.
