India-Kuwait Ties: S Jaishankar reached Kuwait, India assured help, discussed important issues

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was on an official visit to Kuwait from 8 to 10 July 2026. The main objective of this visit was to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries. On this occasion, India reiterated its unwavering support towards Kuwait and assured to help in dealing with regional challenges.

During the visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met senior leaders of Kuwait. He spoke to Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s good wishes to them. Apart from this, he also discussed with Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali and Foreign Minister Sheikh Zarah Jaber.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said that the strategic partnership between India and Kuwait was reviewed in these meetings. During the talks, views were shared on important issues like impact of the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region, energy, trade, investment, defence, technology and health.

India’s Ambassador to Kuwait Parmita Tripathi described the visit as a symbol of solidarity. He said that special talks were held between the two countries on improving food security, supply chain and logistics connectivity. In this context, India has provided special firefighting foam material to Kuwait.

The External Affairs Minister also met members of the Indian community living in Kuwait. He appreciated the important contribution being made by the Indians living there and said that this community is playing a big role in strengthening the relations between the two countries. More high-level meetings are expected between the two countries in the coming times.
