India Seychelles Relations: PM Modi gave a package of 175 million dollars, now India will help in these works
During his visit to Seychelles, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on further strengthening relations with Seychelles. He shared information about a special economic package worth US$ 175 million. This step has been taken to promote strategic partnership and development between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi and Seychelles President Patrick Harmini held a joint press conference in Victoria. During this, PM Modi reiterated the Special Economic Package (SEP), which was announced during President Harmini’s visit to India in February 2026. The two leaders discussed in detail mutual cooperation and maritime security.
PM Modi said that this financial assistance has been prepared keeping in mind the priorities and needs of Seychelles. Its main objective is to generate employment for the people there and provide skill training to the youth. He described Seychelles as a reliable maritime neighbor and termed it an important part of India’s MAHASAGAR vision.
Details of economic package and assistance
This package will be used for essential works like public housing, transport, infrastructure, health, education and food security. Apart from this, India will also help in building a hydrographic unit in Seychelles. President Harmini talked about working with India on maritime security, so that problems like piracy and drug smuggling can be stopped.
Both countries also signed several new agreements (MoUs). Now India’s UPI system will start for digital payments in Seychelles. Also, it has been agreed to open ‘Jan Aushadhi’ centers for affordable medicines and to cooperate in the fields of space and education. A new professional and technical center was also started for the youth, which will increase their employability.
During this visit, Prime Minister Modi was awarded Seychelles’ biggest honor ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’. This award was given to him for his leadership in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.
