India successfully tests Advanced Agni missile with MIRV system

New Delhi, 10 May. India has successfully test-fired the Advanced Agni missile with Multiple Independently Targeted Re-Entry Vehicle system (MIRV). This successful test once again demonstrated the ability to engage multiple critical targets using a single missile system.

India successfully test-fired the Advanced Agni Missile from the Multiple Independently Targeted Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) system from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha on May 8, 2026, according to a Defense Ministry statement. The missile was tested with multiple explosives, aimed at various targets spread over a large geographical area in the Indian Ocean region.

DRDO laboratories have developed this missile in collaboration with industries across the country. Senior DRDO scientists and Indian Army personnel were present during this test. Several ground- and ship-based stations performed telemetry and tracking. These systems tracked the entire journey of the missile from launch to impact with all explosives. Flight data showed that all mission objectives were met during the test.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO, Indian Army and industry for the successful flight test. He said that this will further strengthen the country’s defense preparedness keeping in mind the increasing threat.
