The 22nd edition of the India-US joint military exercise, Yudh Abhyasofficially commenced today at the Auli Foreign Training Node in Uttarakhand.
Simultaneously being conducted at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, the bilateral exercise features 600 personnel from each side.
The opening ceremony was addressed by Major General Amaresh Gunjan, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, and Colonel Benjamin Jackman, Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division, US Army.
Designed to enhance joint military capability, the exercise centres on employing Integrated Battle Groups in mountainous and semi-mountainous terrains with an emphasis on infantry-led operations.
A core focus of this year’s drill is technology infusion, incorporating the use of drones and autonomous systems for surveillance and reconnaissance.
Furthermore, subject matter experts from both armies will exchange strategic insights on emerging technologies and multi-domain warfare.
