Shubman Gill Captaincy Record: India ended the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan on a high by winning the third match by 9 wickets. In this match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Indian bowlers first restricted Afghanistan to 218 runs. After this, the batsmen achieved the target without any pressure and won by losing only one wicket in 28.4 overs. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made the team’s victory easy by scoring a brilliant century.

Captain Shubman Gill showed his distinct identity

In this series, Shubman Gill performed brilliantly in both the roles of captain and batsman. He did not get a chance to bat in the third ODI, but in the first two matches, he took the opposition bowlers to task with his batting. In the first match played in Dharamshala, Gill scored unbeaten 84 runs, while in the second ODI he played a memorable inning of 154 runs. He was chosen player of the match in both the matches.

Won Player of the Series award for the sixth time

In the entire series, Shubman Gill scored 238 runs in two innings and his average was also 238. During this, he hit 33 fours and 4 sixes. On the basis of his excellent performance, he was chosen Player of the Series. This is the sixth Player of the Series award of his career in ODI cricket. With this achievement he also equaled Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
