3 Indian flagged ships emerge safely from Hormuz; More than 90 sailors will reach home soon

Indian Oil Tankers Passage Hormuz: Despite Iran announcing re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz, three Indian-flagged crude oil tankers have safely transited the Strait. Union Shipping, Ports and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal confirmed the successful operation and said that these ships are now moving towards India.

Shipping Minister shared big information

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on social media platform ‘X’ But informed that ‘Desh Vaibhav’, ‘Desh Vibhor’ and ‘Sanmar Herald’ Three Indian tankers have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. He said that there are a total of 94 Indian sailors on board these ships and they are bringing more than 8.6 lakh metric tons of crude oil. Sonowal stressed that the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving top priority to India’s maritime interests and the safety of seafarers.

When will it reach India?

According to ministry sources, the schedule of arrival of these ships in India is as follows:

Country glory: The ship is carrying 2,86,572 metric tonnes of crude oil with 37 Indian sailors on board. It is expected to reach Vadinagar port in Gujarat by June 24.
The country is in turmoil: There are 27 Indian sailors on board this tanker and it is carrying 2,88,893 metric tonnes of crude oil. It will also anchor at Sikka port on June 24 itself.
Sanmar Herald: The ship, carrying a crew of 30 Indian sailors, is headed towards Pardeep Port on the east coast carrying 2,85,400 metric tonnes of oil, where it is likely to reach by July 1.

Why did the situation become tense?

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s busiest and most important oil transportation routes. Iran has announced the closure of this route again in protest against the recent attacks carried out by Israel in southern Lebanon. Iran alleges that America has broken its promises and instability is increasing in the region. Earlier this route was open after an agreement between the US and Iran, but the current conflict has again posed a threat to the global energy supply chain.
