India Women vs England Women Test: The Indian women’s cricket team has set a huge target of 457 runs to win against England on Sunday, the third day of the ongoing historic Test match at Lord’s. This is the first women’s Test match at Lord’s, by winning which the visiting team would like to create history.
After losing the toss and coming to bat, the Indian team scored 285 runs in its first innings. The visiting team had lost 2 wickets till the score of 37. From here, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodriguez (35) made 64 runs for the third wicket, while making a partnership of 89 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the team took over.
Mandhana’s brilliant batting in the first innings
Mandhana was out after scoring 83 runs with 11 fours and 1 six, while Harmanpreet Kaur played an inning of 58 runs. Deepti Sharma scored 57 runs in the team’s account. Sophie Ecclestone took maximum 3 wickets from the opposition camp. Lauren Filer, EC Wong and Mady Villiers achieved 2 successes each.
The first innings was limited to 170 runs.
In response, England was reduced to just 170 runs in the first innings. The host team had lost 4 wickets till the score of 47. From here, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt tried to take control of the team by making a partnership of 84 runs for the fifth wicket with Amy Jones, but after the break of this pair, the team lost wickets rapidly. For India, Kranti Gaur took 5 wickets for 37 runs. Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana took 2 wickets each.
Target of 457 runs for England
India had a significant lead of 115 runs on the basis of first innings. The visiting team declared its second innings at a score of 341/7 and took a lead of 456 runs. The opening pair of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana added 88 runs. Shefali was out after scoring 33 runs, after which Mandhana along with Yastika Bhatia scored 73 runs for the second wicket and took the team to a strong score.

Mandhana scored 70 runs with 10 boundaries, while Yastika was out after scoring 113 runs with 14 fours. Yastika also became the first female batsman to score a century at Lord’s. Apart from these, Richa Ghosh scored unbeaten 50 runs in 52 balls with 8 fours. As soon as her half-century was completed, captain Harmanpreet Kaur declared the innings.
