First Test (August 2001): The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka was played in Galle in August 2001. This match was won by host Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Sri Lanka had defeated the Indian team under the captaincy of veteran Sanath Jayasuriya.
Second Test (31 July – 3 August 2008): The second test match between India and Sri Lanka was played in Galle in 2008. In this match, Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 170 runs. In this match, Virender Sehwag played a brilliant unbeaten inning of 201* runs. While veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh took 10 wickets in the match.
