Digital Desk, New Delhi. The closing ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games began at 1:30 am IST. Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar performed a dance to Vande Mataram. Renowned sitar player Rishabh Rikhiram and bagpiper Ross Ainslie then performed a cultural performance. Rikhiram sang the Shiva Tandava Stotra.
Commonwealth Games President Dr. Donald Ruka presented the flag to India to host the 2030 Games. Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra, legendary athlete PT Usha, and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi were present.

During the ceremony, a video was played showcasing Ahmedabad as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Following this, Indian sitar player Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma and Scottish piper Ross Ainslie captivated everyone with their performances.
Manushi Chillar danced to India’s national song, “Vande Mataram.” There were also spectacular performances of traditional Indian music.
Indian musician Shankar Mahadevan sang Ae Watan and Bhaag Milkha. He gave a powerful performance with his sons and Bhoomi Trivedi on the song Parcham Lahra Do.
The Indian contingent won 39 medals (13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze) at the tournament, and many athletes made their mark internationally for the first time. Indian athletes brought glory to the country with impressive performances in boxing, athletics, weightlifting, and para-medical sports. It’s worth noting that wrestling, badminton, table tennis, hockey, and shooting were not included this year. These sports are considered India’s medal-winning events.
Indian athletes performed brilliantly in the tournament. Whether it was Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting, Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh in judo, or Neeraj Chopra, Gulvir Singh, and Tejaswin Shankar in athletics, all performed well. Following this, Indian athletes will once again raise the national flag at the Asian Games in six weeks.
