On the third day, the Sri Lankan batsmen, who came in to play ahead with the score of 8/2, proceeded with the innings wisely. Sri Lanka got off to a good start, with Kamil Mishara hitting a few boundaries off Prasidh's deliveries, but the Indian fast bowler eventually pounced and dismissed the debutant on a bouncer. Pasindu Suriyabandara and Kamindu continued to play with a positive attitude, moving the scoreboard up and putting some pressure on the Indian bowlers. Saransh Jain was the first spinner brought in, but he could not make any impact, while Suthar also did not bowl well consistently and conceded a lot of runs. The pair added 87 runs at a good pace, forcing Gill to revert to his fast bowlers.
Prasidh, who has been the best of the Indian bowlers and had already bowled a long opening spell of six overs, came back and broke the partnership by dismissing Kamindu Mendis. Mendis's wicket has made this session equal. Suriyabandara has completed his first Test half-century. Sri Lanka will hope that the rest of the batsmen will support them in the post-lunch session. At the same time, India would like to maintain the pressure.
