Nagoya, Sept 25:
Indian boxer Sakshi Chaudhary bowed out of the Asian Games after losing 2-3 to Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova in the women’s 51kg pre-quarterfinals.
The 26-year-old Haryana boxer, a Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist, struggled to connect cleanly as Balkibekova maintained the advantage across all three rounds. The Kazakh boxer used her right hook effectively to stay ahead on the scorecards.
Sakshi tried to fight back in the second and third rounds but could not overturn the deficit. Earlier, Indian boxer Sumit also suffered disappointment after conceding his men’s 70kg pre-quarterfinal bout against Iraq’s Al Sarray Ali Qasim following an injury.
