While sharing the video on Instagram, Ashika Jain said that she and her family had rented a traditional kimono in Japan. This is a common facility for tourists in Japan, in which they are allowed to walk around and take photographs wearing a kimono for a few hours.

According to Aashika, everything was good in the beginning. The shop staff helped him get ready and the return time was also clearly explained. After this his group went out for a walk and kept making photos and videos at many tourist places.

What happens if the kimono is not returned on time?

The problem started when his group could not return by the scheduled time. Ashika told that the kimonos were to be returned by 5 pm, but they arrived 37 minutes late. According to the rules of the shop, a fine of 1100 yen (about Rs 646) per person is imposed for every 30 minutes of delay. Since they were 37 minutes late, a charge of 2,200 yen per person was made.

Misunderstanding increased due to language

Ashika told that she requested the shop staff to charge only for half an hour, but due to language problem the staff felt that she was refusing to pay the money. After this the shop called the police.

What happened after the police arrived?

Japanese police reached the spot and listened to both sides. However, the situation remained completely calm and there was no argument of any kind. In the end the Indian family had to pay the full fine and were then allowed to go. Ashika said that the police heard the case peacefully, but did not give any relaxation. He said that the rules in Japan are very strict and it is important to follow them.

After the video went viral, mixed reactions of people were seen on social media. Some people blamed the language problem, while many users said that the rules should have been followed and the fine should have been paid immediately instead of bargaining. One user wrote that if there was a delay, the fine should have been paid respectfully. Another user said that a delay of 37 minutes means a fee of two slots, so the fine was as per the rules.
