Indian Passport Update: Passport fees increased in UAE, new agency will handle the work, know the new rules
There have been major changes in the passport rules for Indians living in UAE. Now the cost of making a passport has increased significantly and the service providing company has also changed. If you are thinking of renewing your passport or getting a new one, then these updates are very important for you so that you do not face any problems.
Changes in service agency and work conditions
The Indian Embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs have said that the service of passport, visa and attestation in UAE will now be done by a new company. M/s Al Hind Tours and Travel LLC Will handle. This change has come into effect from July 1, 2026.
Due to this change, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Indian Consulate General in Dubai had closed their regular services from June 26 to July 1, 2026. During this period only emergency services were handled directly. Now the old companies BLS International and SGIVS Global have stopped taking new applications.
Huge increase in passport fees
The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India had issued a notification on 20 June 2026. According to this, the fees for passport and travel documents have been increased by up to 75% from July 1, 2026. This rule is applicable all over the world, so Indians living in UAE will also have to pay more fees.
Important rules and facts related to passport
- Validity of Passport: For those coming on tourist visa, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months. But those who have UAE residence permit are exempted from this rule.
- Passport Renewal: If the validity of the passport is less than 12 months left, or there is a change in the photograph, signature or address, the passport will have to be re-made.
- UAE Address: Normally UAE address cannot be written on passport. This happens only in special cases where the applicant proves that he has no permanent address in India.
- Extra Pages: There is no provision for adding separate pages in the passport. If the pages are exhausted, a new passport will have to be made.
Application process and required documents
For all passport related services PSP 2.0 You have to apply online through the portal (). At the time of application, it is necessary to upload photo and signature as per ICAO rules.
Some applications require police verification in India, which can take up to 30 days. Whereas applications which do not require verification are processed by the Consulate in 1 to 2 days. Tatkal service is also available for emergencies, whose processing time is minimum 2 working days.
