How much luggage can you travel with?
A limit has been set by the Railways for traveling in trains with luggage. Under which, luggage of different weight is allowed to be carried for each category i.e. each class. If you are traveling in AC First Class (1A), then you can carry a weight of up to 70 kg. If you are traveling in AC second tier (2A), then you can travel with luggage up to 50 kg. Whereas, if you are traveling in AC third tier or sleeper (3A/SL), then you should carry only up to 40 kg of weight. Most of the people in India travel in this category. Whereas, if you are traveling in second sitting (2S), then you can carry only up to 35 kg of weight.
Penalty will be imposed on non-booking
Many times some people travel without booking or ticket and travel in the train with luggage heavier than the prescribed limit. Heavy fines can be imposed on such people by the Railways. If you are traveling with more luggage than the prescribed limit, you may have to pay a fine up to 6 times the luggage rate.
